How much does HR and payroll software cost in Nigeria? (2026)
Most HR and payroll software in Nigeria is priced the same way: a monthly fee that covers a set number of employees, a charge for each employee above that, and a one-time set-up fee. Once you know those three numbers, you can work out what any provider will really cost you. Here is how it fits together, with real figures.

The three numbers that make up the price
Ask every provider for all three, in naira, and whether VAT is included. A low base fee can hide a high per-employee rate that overtakes everything else once you pass 30 or 40 staff.
- A monthly base fee, which usually covers your first 10 to 25 employees
- A per-employee fee for everyone above that, charged every month
- A one-time implementation fee for set-up, data import and training
What drives the price up
- Payroll: HR-only plans cost less than plans that calculate PAYE, pension and NHF
- Managed service: having specialists prepare and check payroll for you costs more than software alone
- More than one company or legal entity
- Several pay schedules, for example monthly staff plus weekly casual workers
- Custom reports, integrations and biometric attendance devices
Costs people forget to ask about
- Dollar pricing, which rises every time the naira weakens
- Paid upgrades when the tax law changes
- Charges for extra admin accounts
- Fees for re-running a payroll after a correction
- Support that is only available outside Nigerian working hours
Worked example: 234 Solutions prices
Our prices are published in naira and each plan includes the first 20 employees. HR Essentials, with HR and payroll, is ₦85,000 a month plus ₦2,500 per extra employee. Workforce Pro, which adds the payroll wallet, is ₦150,000 a month plus ₦4,000 per extra employee. All prices exclude VAT, and annual billing saves 10%. Managed payroll, where a specialist runs the process for you, is quoted separately.
- 20 employees: ₦85,000 (HR Essentials) or ₦150,000 (Workforce Pro)
- 50 employees: ₦160,000 or ₦270,000
- 100 employees: ₦285,000 or ₦470,000
Is it worth it compared with Excel?
Spreadsheets are free, but the cost shows up elsewhere: days of HR and finance time every month, payroll that depends on one person, PAYE mistakes that surface in an audit, and no record of who approved what. For most companies above 20 staff, the time saved and the errors avoided cover the subscription. The quickest way to know is to price your own headcount and compare it with the hours your team spends on payroll today.
Prices are 234 Solutions list prices at the time of writing and exclude VAT. Above 100 employees we agree a custom price. The pricing page always shows current figures.
